European championship nails!

It's time!
The European football championship started last night! I'm so excited! I normally don't really follow football matches (althought i've played football a few years myself) But when it comes to the european or world championship i can't hold myself and i want to see every match which will be played!
The Netherlands start against Denmark, then Germany and Portugal. They seem to be favorite this year. I don't know if that's good though, maybe it can cause much pressure to the guys..
But, we'll see, i'm already getting nerveus for tonight LOL
To support my country i've made these nails...

These are really easy to do. I've started with a basecoat (of course). Then i've added 2 coats of Rimmels french manicure pink. With a striper brush and acrylic paint i started painting the lines with the colors of our flag. Red, white and blue. When this is dry use a silver (or gold would fit as well) glitter polish in between the lines.
For the football i actually wanted to make my own waterdecals. But when i wanted to print the image, my printer broke down and wasn't working anymore. Bummer. So, i decided to paint them myself.
I hope you like this simple but fun supporters design :)
I will be watching tonight, what about you??

Take care,
Camilla

DIY: Silicone molds for acrylic/clay/ cupcake decoration

Hello lovely's!

It's been a while i've wrote something here, but i've been so busy with my YT channel.
Today i want to share a video with you guys. A while ago, Ilona, from Sillis send me some earring settings for reviewing purposes. When i was looking at their site again (http://www.sillis.nl) i saw something which looked awesome to me. Silicones to make your own molds. These molds you will make yourself can be used for making flatbacks for jewelry, scrapbooking, acrylics (to make a 3D nailart design), cupcake decorations and many more! She send me some to make my own molds, and it's soooooo awesome! It's really easy to do. You will get 2 different "silicones". One is white and the other is green. You have to take equal parts and mix them together untill the color is smoothly and opaque. Don't use to much in once, if you need more you can always mix some again. Then take the amount you need for your flatback (sillis will send some with the silicone, you can even choose what style you'd like to receive) Push in your flatback, leave it for about 2 to 3 hours. Take it out, and your mold is ready to use. If you want to use it for food purposes, bake it in de oven at 200 degrees for about 4 hours. Then put it in the dishwasher at the hottest menu, and they are ready!
Take a look at my video how it's used to be done!
I hope you like it!
Don't forget to check out Sillis facebookpage (and mine ;-) )
Their english website is: http://www.sillicreations.com

Thank you and take care!!

Sunbeams

Hi Lovely's!

So i had an epic fail with my laptop and camera!
I, of course, filmed the whole process of creating my sunbeam nails. I wanted to place it on my laptop, but he didn't recognise the disc. Checking on my camera again.....i'm missing a whole part of the film! Grrrrrr! I can get soooo angry when that happens!!
Anyway, i still wanted to share this with you guys, so i made a picture slideshow. (you can watch the tutorial here) Before i'll let you know how i did it, let me show you the result :)

Essie "Marabou"

Hello you all!

Since i started to read a few blogs with swatches i came across some bloggers who showed a polish of Essie. Most of them were very possitive about this brand. They find the colors opaque, smooth applying, just a "perfect" polish. Since i don't know where to buy Essie in the stores in The Netherlands i decided to ask my friend Jae from the USA to send me an Essie in our swap. I saw this beautiful color "Marabou". It's a pink polish with a subtle coral teint in it in my opinion. I'd asked her to send me that one in particulair and she did. Yay!!
Am i just as excited as the girls who's blogs i've read?

Uhhmm, no!
Let's start with the possitive thing. The color is BEAUTIFUL! I really love it!
When i started applying the first thing i saw the polish was quite thin. I prefer a bit thicker substance. The brush was pretty small which i didn't like much either. The first coat was very stricky, and the second was too. Eventually i needed 3 coats and some of my nails still weren't opaque. Well, just take a look at the pictures...

You can see my pointer finger has some "clear" spots after 3 coats.
Again....the color i like very much ♥

I thought this is the perfect color to make an elegant spring design with.
What do you think of this design?

Thank you for your time!
Don't forget to check out the tutorial here!

Untill soon!! xoxo

Catrice "Meet me at coral island" and Catrice "Million dollar baby"

Hi there!

Today i want to share 2 catrice polishes with you. Well, one is a nailpolish and the other is a effect topcoat from the "Million styles" edition. "Meet me at coral island" i already had for a few days, but i wanted to use it at the right moment. It's such a bright color, perfect for summer! I think....no, i know it would look awesome on your toes!! I have a nailartwheel, and i swatched it on there. When i bought the effect topcoat 2 days ago, i layered it over this color and it looked so pretty! I love glitter, but normally i don't buy topcoats with such big glitters in it, so i was having some doubts if i would buy it. I'm so glad i did, because i really love this one!
This is what they look like together!

So, Catrice "Meet me at coral island" and Catrice "Million dollar baby" from the Million Styles collection. Gorgeous, don't you think?

This is what the color looks like without the awesome glitters.

It's pretty hard to get the real beautiful, bright, coral color on camera. Well...you know what...you just have to go out and buy yourself this gorgeus color so you can see it in real life ;-)

Thank you for your time, and
i talk to you guys soon!!

China Glaze Dance Baby and Sally Hansen Glass slipper

Hello dear readers,

Last week i received a package from my dear friend Jae (Jaemarie2008). She is one of my sweetest friends from YouTube. Besides the fact that she makes wonderfull nailart, she is a wonderfull person! We just did our 2nd swap. This time we knew what we wanted, so we tried to get all the stuff we askes from eachother. And of course we both added some surprises! I've asked, among other things, China Glaze "Dance Baby". I had seen some swatches on a few blogs from the Electropop collection, and i really wanted this one (and also Aquadelic). Thank god she could get her hands on this pretty, precious polish! I couldn't wait to wear it!

When i was done staring at this awesome color, i went on with looking what great stuff she'd send more. Then i found out she had send me Glass Slipper from Sally Hansen. I haven't seen this one before, but i am madly in love with it. The first thing that came to me was that it must look great on Dance Baby. It would give the perfect subtle spark to this color. And i was right! When i was outside in the sun (ok, a little bit of sun) it looked AWESOME!
I know...the pictures don't really show that, but i've tried...

Imagine what these flakies will look like on a very dark color? Dark blue, black.....i bet it would be an eyecatcher!!

Thank you for your time!

Essence "A walk in the park" and "Stop for an icecream"

Hi there!

Since a few weeks Essence have some new polishes in their assortment. The 3 -way polish! A few months ago they had a limited edition on the 3- way polishes and they were great. I got 2 at that moment. I recently bought another one. It seemed like one of the polishes were flakies. Now i know they aren't, LOL. But hey, i still like it. The green color is gorgeous without adding the sparkles (i think it looks even better without the sparkles) It's called A walk in the park. The glitter topcoat is called Stop for an icecream.
I applied 2 coats, which went smooth, and one coat of glitter. No base and topcoat on this one.
Well...i let you see for yourself....

I don't know about this glitter coat, what do you think?

Half one stroke flower

Hi guys!

I'm soooo jealous of the people who can do a perfect one stroke flower. Well, jealous may be not the right word, but i do envy them a lot! I wish i could do that, but...i'll keep practicing.
So last week i made my first franken, a pink holographic polish, which you can find HERE , but i wanted to make a nailart design on top. I decided to give my one stroke another try! I thought i'd go for a pink and blue combo, and you know what, it turned out pretty nice if i may say so myself. Well, i let you judge for yourself....

And? What do you think? What i used is my franken holo polish as my basecolor. I used a pink acrylic paint from Folkart and a blue i bought at a local DIY shop (Kwantum). I also used some big glitters which i loveee so much! Topcoat: Seche Vite. To see the step by step video click HERE

Ok, so for a comparison to see  if my one stroke skills got any better, i have a picture of my first one stroke flower...

I think i got a bit better, but i know it's still far from perfect.

Thanks for stopping by!

My first franken!!

Hi there!

I made my first franken! Yay!!
I don't know why i haven't done this before, it was FUN!
I'm always complaining that i don't have any holographic polishes, now that's not something which can't be done anything about, i know that. I can order them online, but i don't like to buy stuff from the internet. I'm always afraid something will go wrong, or i won't receive it. Besides that, i always thinks it's a waste of my money to spend much for the shipping.
Anyway!!!!! A few weeks, maybe months ago my sweet friend Jae from YouTube send me some holographic glitters! OMG, they look so awesome, but i was so afraid to use them LOL. I know that sounds dumb silly! So, yesterday i had them in my hands again, and i thought, what the heck, let's give it a try. And you know what? It turned out absolutely gorgeous! Now, there wasn't any sun to pick up the gorgeous rainbows in this holo, but this is what it turned out in the bottle.

I started with filling the bottle for about 3/4 with clear polish by Sally Hansen. Then i added the holographic glitters and gave it a good shake! When you want to use it right away, don't shake the bottle, but role it in your hand. Shaking causes bubbles. I was not going to use it that day, so i shaked! After that i added a few drops of Catrice "The pinky and the brain", which is a very vibrant pink and Mavala "Wichita", which is a very soft/sheer pink. I gave it another shake and that's it!

I made another polish, as my basecolor for this holo.
I found a bottle of Orly Ridgefiller which was half full. I added some clear polish to this bottle, a few drops of Catrice "The pinky and the brain" and a few drops of Catrice "Meet me at coral island". That gave me a perfect soft pink for my basecolor.

This is what they look like together on my nails...

Inside light

The pictures are absolutely not showing the beauty of this polish. But....most of you know what a holo looks like, so you can understand i love this! I did make another one, with turkoise, woohooo.... I will show that next time!

By the way, my new polishes need a name, any idea's?

Thank you for stopping by!

Chained!

Hi guys!

Happy monday!
I didn't have much time to do a really fancy manicure. I wanted to do a simple one.
A while ago i saw a picture (don't know who it was from) and it was a stamped design of some chains. I don't have many stamping plates at all, because i prefer doing it all freehand. So i decided to do this look without stamping.
I started off with a basecoat (of course). I used China Glaze basecoat. I recently bought this and i can say, i'm not disapointed. Normally i used OPI Natural Nails basecoat, but i think they are equal in my opinion. Anyway, after that i used NYC black, 2 coats. When it was dry i made some oval rounds with my silver acrylic paint (bought at Xenos) and connected them with a little tiny stripe. When this was dry i took my black acrylic paint (Folkart) and made some openings in some links of the chain. I finished the design with my matte topcoat (Hema).

If you would like to see how i did this step by step, click HERE for the video.

What do you think of it?

How to take care of your nails.

Hi guys,

Happy wednesday! I hope the weather is better where you are then where i am, because it's raining all day :-( No fun to go outside, but perfect to make another post.

Today i want to talk about taking care of your nails and hands.
I think everybody has their own way of nail care.
Honestly, i don't really believe in stuff what says it makes your nails grow faster. It's just something heritable.
I'm lucky, my mother has pretty, strong, fast growing nails and my dad too. Of course your hands and nails need caring, whether they grow fast or not.

Let's start by removing your old manicure. Use a nailpolish remover without acetone. I know this is less effective then for example pure acetone. If you do want to use acetone (when you have glitters in your mani which are an ass to remove) make sure you immediatly wash your hands and hydrate them. If your going to do a new mani don't use a handcream with oil in it. Even if you didn't have any polish on your nails, it's always good to clean your nails before applying a nailpolish. You can use alcohol 70% to do this.

When your nails are all clean it's time to file your nails. I'm not going to tell you which file is best, because that preference is different for everybody. I used to file my nails with a boomerang file (i think it was 80/100 gritt). I recently start using a glass file. I must say, when you want to file down a big piece of your nail, don't use a glass file, because it would take ages, but for shaping your nails, i think it's awesome.
Make sure when you file, you do this in one direction. If you file in a sawing motion, it's possible your nails will split.

Next you have to take care of your cuticles. To push them back it's best when they are soft. So soak your hands in a bowl with warm water and some oil, or you can just apply a cream or oil especially for the cuticles. (my favorite cuticle cream is Lemony flutter from Lush, click here to read more about this product) After a few minutes you can use a cuticle pusher and push them back. Do not cut your cuticles! They are there for a reason! They protect the nails from bacteria.

Now it's time to apply your new manicure. If your nails are a bit oily because of a handcream or oil you've used, just clean your nails with some alcohol. This is so the nailpolish sticks good to the nail. You don't want to re-do your manicure in 1 day do you? (i know some of you do that anyway LOL)
Start with a basecoat. This is to smoothen the surface and to protect your nails. Your nails can turn yellow because of the nailpolish. When you're done with polishing your nails or your nailart, seal in the design with a topcoat. I prefer a topcoat which is fast drying, such as Seche Vite.

Some other tips which will help you keep your nails beautiful:
* Don't use your nails as a tool. Don't try to open cans or soda's with your nails.
* If your nails are exposed to chemicals, moisture, water etc, it could result in split peeling or an allergic reaction. Wear rubber gloves when you're cleaning to protect your nails.
* If your nails are dry and brittle, you need more vitamin A. This vitamin can for example be found in apricots, broccolie, carrots and cheese. Also calcium is important, like milk, yoghurt and almonds.
* Before you go to sleep at night make sure to wash your hands, dry them well and apply a hand moisturizer. Give your cuticles some extra love and apply some vaseline, vitamin e oil or any other cuticle cream.
* Drink enough water. It's good for your body, but also for your nails.

I hope these tips were all helpfull.
If you have any great tips yourself, or you have found a "miracle cream" for your hands or cuticles, i would love to know, so please leave a comment below! Thanks for your time!

Take care♥

My last valentine mani

Hi guys!

Today i will show you my last valentine manicure. I'm not saying i won't do any designs without hearts orso, but this is for the girls who would like to have some cute nails on the 14th of february!
The design is easy to do.
I started with a sheer pink nailpolish. Then i mixed a dark pink acrylic paint with white acrylic paint, and i made a french tip. With the dark pink i made some stripes on the tip. Then i added a shimmer/glitter polish on the tip for a soft shimmer on it. With my Catrice polish from their new colors "The pinky and the brain", i made a heart. Next to the heart i added some big gold glitters, and i finished it with my favorite topcoat Seche Vite.
What do you think of it?

If you would like to do this yourself, check out THIS video.
This will show you step by step how you can archive this cute V-day design!

Happy monday and i talk to you all soon!

Valentine

Hi you all!

Today i want to share my valentine mani with you all.
I didn't had much inspiration today untill i saw my essence circus circus! A new mani was born!
So, this is how it turned out....

The polish i used is, as i said before, from Essence. It's from the limited edition Circus circus and it's called Cotton Candy.

It's a pink/fuchsia polish and on the other side it's a glitter polish.
Believe it or not, but i used only one coat for full coverage!

When this was dry is applyed the glitter polish with a cosmetic sponge.

Lastly some hearts with pink acrylic paint and done!!
I hope you like this simple but cute valentine design!

Talk to you soon♥

Friday i'm in love! "Airbrushed hearts without airbrushing"

Hi guys!

Another great collaboration on YouTube! The first one was "Let it snow" and now i participated in "Friday i'm in love". There are posted so many great video's, you just feel the love. It's good to come together and do what we all like!
I was thinking most of the designs will contain hearts, so i wanted to be original. I made airbrushed looking hearts. I think they turned out pretty ok. It's a simple design and doesn't take much time.
Just take a look at the video and tell me what you think ;-)
Happy friday!!

Essence Crystalliced

Hello you all!

Last week Essence released their limited edition "Cristalliced".
I got my hands on 3 of the polishes. The first time i went, they didn't have it in the store yet, the second time, of course, not all was available anymore! So i got 3 out of the 4 polishes they sold. I think there may be a 5th according to one of the pictures i've posted. Anyway, let's take a look at them.

The first one is a purple-isch one. I didn't like the brushes this time, i don't know why. This one is called "It's a snow-woman's world". I applied 2 coats and no topcoat.

The second one is a blue one. I applied 3 coats, no topcoat, and i think it actually needs 4. It's called "Ice eyes baby". I don't know what went on with this polish, but it came out all bumpy and stuff....

The last one, this one is my fave of all three. It's a pink colour. It's called "Ice christals on my window". I applied 3 coats and finished with seche vite topcoat.

In the picture below you can see which colors seem to be out, but my store had only 4 colors. The 3 colors i swatched are the numbers 1, 2 and 4.

To give my mani something extra i applied some waterdecals. Those are available at bornprettystore.com. Click HERE to go directly to the waterdecals.

Thanks for watching ;-)

Waterdecals were send to me for review purposes.
